Actress Olivia Wilde is shooting a documentary about women living and working in Kenya’s most impoverished areas.
The Tron: Legacy star has interviewed female entrepreneurs and toured the Kibera School for Girls in the run-down slums of Nairobi for TV documentary Half the Sky, which she is shooting with writer Nicholas D. Kristof.
Since Jennifer has to step down from the project (congratulations to her by the way!), Olivia is set to replace her in the upcoming Better Living Through Chemistry
Olivia Wilde, best known for playing Thirteen in House, is currently in talks to replace Jennifer Garner in the upcoming indie dark comedic thriller, Better Living Through Chemistry, Variety report.
Garner and her husband Ben Affleck are now expecting their third child, opening up the lead female role for the film, and Wilde sounds perfect for the part. She brilliantly brings out both the good and bad in her characters, and the latter is something she’ll likely be doing a healthy amount of for this project.
Olivia is apparently being sought out for a new role.
Who would you most want by your side in a post-apocalyptic, alien-run Earth? You have five options. Also, this question only applies to Tom Cruise.
Cruise is headlining a developing Joseph Kosinski sci-fi piece, Horizon, in which he’ll play a globetrotting electronics repairman who is reponsible for keeping the human race alive. If this sounds somewhat familiar, you might have known about the project back when it was still advertized under its original name: Oblivion. That title, however, has been sent into… well, you know.
In the film, Cruise’s character will have a right-hand woman: this is one of the two Horizon roles currently in contestion for a handful of actresses. Those included: Jessica Chastain (The Tree of Life and The Help), Olivia Wilde (who has been expanding her reputation beyond House with Tron: Legacy, also directed by Kosinski, and Cowboys & Aliens), Sundance darling Brit Marling (who will play opposite Alexander Skarsgard in the upcoming The East), Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace and Centurion) and Noomi Rapace (the 2009 Girl With the Dragon Tattoo trilogy and Ridley Scott’s upcoming Alien prequel, Prometheus). The other major Horizon role looking to be filled is that of Cruise’s character’s deceased fiancee (who will presumably manifest in dream sequences, flashbacks, hallucinations, or maybe your odd hologram).
Olivia Wilde found it “so fun” getting to grips with all the props on Cowboys & Aliens.
The 27-year-old Hollywood actress portrays Ella Swenson in Jon Favreau’s sci-fi thriller, which sees extra terrestrials try to take over the Wild West.
On the movie set, Olivia used antique guns and also mastered stunts involving spaceships.
“I have tremendous respect for all our props. I thought they were very cool. That was another thing which made the experience so fun,” she gushed to Cover Media.
Olivia’s co-star Harrison Ford, who plays war veteran Woodrow Dolarhyde in the picture, had an equally enjoyable time. The 69-year-old movie icon considered the part to be so unique that he couldn’t resist it.
“I thought it was interesting. It was fun. I didn’t know where it was going as I read along in the script but I was pleased by what I read. I thought it was something different for me to do,” he smiled.
Both stars are big fans of the Western genre, with Harrison landing one of his first big movie roles in The Long Ride Home.
Olivia says her favourite cowboy film is 1969 classic Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The star never thought she would be lucky enough to land such a powerful part in a Western movie.
“I certainly didn’t think there would be a female role in a Western that was this interesting,” she added.
In a article recently posted it appears a lot of people are questioning if Olivia can play Justin’s mom in the upcoming sci-fi movie In Time.
The answer to the question posed in the title is apparently so in this movie. In actuality, the scorching hot Olivia Wilde is younger at 27 than the 30-year-old singer-turned-actor Justin Timberlake. However, for the purpose of the upcoming sci-fi thriller film In Time, Wilde is playing the elder in the relationship. Specifically, Wilde plays Timberlake’s mother in a peculiar future universe where time has become the only relevant currency.
